We’re Thriving at Five!

In the grand scheme of things, 5 years is a drop in the bucket. However, for an independent healthcare marketing agency finding its way in this über-competitive landscape, 5 years of consistent growth is a major accomplishment. At the heart of our success lies ONE team of talented individuals who bring big ideas to life. From the visionary art directors to the eloquent wordsmiths to the laser-focused account teams, every member of the SFC family brings a unique talent to the pool.

5 Highlights from the past 5 years

Number 1We’ve bucked tradition from the start. Before Covid was a reality and full-time remote work a dream, employees were expected to be in the office 5 days a week for 8 hours a day…minimum. It was all any of us knew. So, when SFC Group was still a plan in the making, I was faced with the question, “Do I do what I know and establish a brick-and-mortar agency or venture into an entirely virtual model?” I had to ask myself:

  • We’re all used to working in an office…will productivity fall off when people work from home? How can I make sure work is getting done?
  • Without daily facetime, how do we stay connected?
  • How will the WFH model affect clients?

Ultimately, I decided to take a chance. I collected a core group of talented people I’d worked with previously and built a team based on a mutual desire to color outside the lines—and do it from afar. Together, we began to establish our own processes and workflows based on respect and trust. From that core group of 3 or 4 people, we grew into a cohesive team of 30+ spread from coast to coast, all working toward a shared goal—to be better than anyone else. After 5 years, I don’t regret that decision one bit, especially now that companies are beginning to force their employees back into the office. Number 2The number of accolades has been astounding. Since our founding in 2018, we’ve won more than 180 awards. Whether platinum, gold, silver, or honorable mentions, every single award has been hard won. Healthcare marketing is tightly regulated, to put it mildly. Every medical, legal, regulatory (MLR) team is different, and every product manager has a different tolerance level for out-of-the-box thinking. Developing creative that makes waves is more than knocking out clever headlines and cool design. It’s a dance between strategy, art, copy, the client, and the highly restrictive guardrails erected by MLR. Cooperation, collaboration, and compromise are key when it comes to creative excellence and I’m so proud that our team has mastered it. Browse our work page to explore our award-winning creative.

Number 3If variety is the spice of life, we’re on fire. I’ve been in this business for a LONG time…nearly 36 years. When I worked for big agencies, it was all about achieving blockbuster status for pharmaceuticals. It wasn’t unheard of to spend 9 months creating a single sales aid. With so many processes and levels of approval, it’s a wonder things didn’t take longer. By creating SFC Group, I’d intended to create a better, more efficient way to get things done. Our account and creative teams work closely with the client to bring their vision to life without being held back by the shackles of bureaucracy. The result? We’re perfectly suited for those small to mid-sized companies looking for big agency creative without the crap. That means we’ve worked with some fabulous clients with amazing products. Between awareness campaigns like Share a Stool, to parenteral nutrition products for Fresenius Kabi (our client since 2019!), to partnering with a celebrity for the ACAAI, there’s never a dull moment. And because our team is made up of seasoned marketing professionals, there’s not a product out there we can’t get up to speed on fast.

Number 4We’re proud to be WBENC-certified! In 2023 we received WBENC certification (validating a business is at least 51% owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women). Considering a mere 0.1% of ad agencies are helmed by women, this is a huge achievement. Which is odd to me since women provide unique perspectives and insights that men simply can’t. However, talent comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, and genders. That’s why, while we’re proud to be a woman-owned business, we seek talent with a blind eye to race, gender, background, or even preference for the Chicago Cubs. Number 5We’re just getting started. As we stand at the threshold of 5 fantastic years, we’re not just looking back; we’re gazing into the future. The road ahead is paved with new challenges we’re eager to embrace, unforgettable campaigns to build, and healthcare innovations that could well change the world. The sky’s not the limit—because for us, there are no limits!
